This 200kWp ground-mounted solar mini-grid brings reliable, clean power to a rural community in Nigeria. Built on uneven, sloping terrain, the project bypassed the need for expensive land grading by utilizing a flexible mounting system with height-adjustable telescopic posts. This smart design enabled rapid, cost-effective vertical leveling across the site's natural topography.
Rugged Terrain: Severe, multi-directional slopes made standard fixed-column mounts structurally unviable.
High Civil Costs: Remote logistics made traditional land grading and the use of heavy earthmoving machinery cost-prohibitive and too slow.
Rigid Alignment Needs: The 200kWp system demanded a perfectly consistent tilt angle to maximize solar energy yields, despite the uneven ground.
① Adaptable Terrain Leveling: Telescopic columns offer ±150mm of vertical adjustment, allowing seamless installation on uneven ground without the cost of site excavation.
② Weather-Resistant Foundations: Elevated, cast-in-place concrete piers keep steel connections above ground moisture, preventing corrosion during West Africa's heavy rainy seasons while ensuring robust stability.
③ 25-Year Durability: All main steel components feature tropical-grade Hot-Dip Galvanizing (ISO 1461, ≥65µm thickness) to withstand extreme humidity, rain, and UV exposure.
④ Rapid Modular Deployment: Factory-assembled kits with standardized bolts eliminate on-site welding and cutting. This simplifies remote Nigerian logistics, lowers labor requirements, and speeds up commissioning.
By utilizing height-adjustable post mechanisms, the project eliminated the need for heavy site excavation and land-grading machinery. The structure adapted directly to the natural slope variations of the terrain, cutting civil earthmoving and site prep overhead by over 60%.
The successful installation of the 120kWp ground mount system delivers reliable off-grid power to local communities in Nigeria, providing a sustainable infrastructure blueprint for solar mini-grid developments across West Africa.
